The Literature Lunch Bunch is a "chat and chew" book club that is open to 4th, 5th, and 6th graders. Mrs. Vucko and Mrs. King co-host this club, and invite a different intermediate grade level to participate each trimester. Students meet once a week during lunch/recess for 6-8 weeks. This recreational reading club is intended to encourage students to explore contemporary and classic children's literature. Each grade level focuses on a different book. Students are asked to read the book on their own and meet once a week as a group to have a collaborative conversation about the story. The goals of the Literature Lunch Bunch are to introduce students to a variety of books, share insights and ideas gained from collaborating about the book, experience the pride that comes from the accomplishment of a long-term goal, and help develop lifelong readers.
