Hazelgreen School Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
We would like to remind everyone to follow our arrival and dismissal procedures when dropping off and picking up your children at Hazelgreen School. All parents were given materials at the beginning of the school year explaining where to go and the times that school begins and dismisses depending upon the grade level of their child.
Some basic procedures to remember:
Cars should proceed SOUTH ONLY on Lavergne at drop off and pick-up. Please do NOT stop your car in a northbound direction and expect children to jump in or out. This is not permitted and creates a safety issue for everyone.
Cars are NOT allowed to park on Lavergne. The drop off and pick up lane is a MOVING car line for efficiency purposes. There is no need to wait and watch your children enter the building. All of the doors on the playground are staffed with adults who are watching and will make sure your children enter the building safely.
If your student exits the car to enter the playground at the back of the car line, please do not attempt to move from the line and go around the cars waiting to drop off students in front of you. This creates a lot of unnecessary chaos on Lavergne and upsets the efficiency of our moving car line.
Please do not exit the car when dropping off your children. Our car line staff is very competent in helping the students exit and enter the cars and is very concerned with the safety of our students.
Parents who are picking up their children in cars parked on 118th Street or on Lavergne south of 118th Street, please walk over to the school and escort your children across the street to the car. The intersection of 118th & Lavergne is very congested and we want your children to be safe while trying to enter these vehicles. Students who are picked up by car other than in the car line are considered walkers and will be dismissed with the walkers.
The doors on the playground side of the building stay open until 8:30 a.m. Please do not drop students off at the front door unless it is after 8:30 a.m. Students who come to the front door before 8:30 a.m. will be sent around to the playground entrances. Some of our buses drop off students at the front door which could pose a possible safety hazard for your children when being dropped off on the street. In addition, cars pulling in and out of parking spaces while our students are disembarking from buses also pose a potential hazard for our children. The safety of all our students is of the utmost importance to us. Please feel free to contact the office should you have any questions about these procedures.
