Welcome back to Hazelgreen Elementary School for the new school year! My name is Shauna Bracken and I will be your child's music teacher this year. I will also be teaching the Hazelgreen choir and the district's beginning band.  This will be my 6th year teaching music and I am so excited for this school year!

I received my Bachelor's of Music Education from Illinois State University. There I was involved in many different ensembles such as the Wind Symphony, Jazz Ensemble, and The Big Red Marching Machine. I continue to be an active musician playing trumpet with various bands in the community. Outside of music, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, watching the Food Network, and relaxing with games on Nintendo Switch.

I am excited to get to know all of my students and provide them with an enriching learning environment to experience and appreciate music. To do this, we will learn how to create, perform, and respond to a variety of musical styles. It is my goal to create a learning community that all students can grow as musicians and people. Each lesson is adjusted to take into account the wide range of skills and abilities of the students in my classes.

I will see each class twice a week for 30 minutes. Throughout the year, we will utilize Seesaw (K-2 students) and Google Classroom (3-6 students) to complete assignments and to showcase what students are learning.

If you have any questions throughout the school year, please do not hesitate to contact me by phone, email, or Remind. I am looking forward to a great year!
