Education:
I graduated from North Central College with my BA in Education, and a middle school endorsement in Math. I received my Special Education Endorsement from University of Phoenix. I have completed my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Common Core Math through the American College of Education. I also have a Mathematics Specialist Certificate from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
Experience:
I have a range of experience. I started my career at a private school teaching 2nd grade. After my experience there, I taught in Summit. I taught Kindergarten, and 4th grade. During that time, I also taught Algebra and Geometry in the Summer School program at Brother Rice. I took some time off to stay home with my daughter. During that time, I also taught Algebra and Geometry in the Summer School program at Brother Rice. I also taught PE for a year and subbed at the private school where I started. I started here in the district in 2009, and I love it here. During my time here, I have been a resource teacher for grades 3-6, and this is my twelfth year teaching sixth grade.
In 2019 I was awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching. One winner from Illinois is awarded for K-6 math, every other year. I was honored to be recognized in Washington D.C. for this accomplishment.
