Advanced Art - 8th Grade Art

Advanced Art is an honors level and freshmen level art class taught to 8th grade artists.  Students have to receive high marks on projects in seventh grade art and turn their application in quickly as a 7th grade student to be considered for this course the following year.  The class lasts the entire school year.  I am able to teach more time consuming techniques and open up my room to the use of every material the school has because it is a year long course.  With the exception of oil painting, if you think of any art supply, I have taught Advanced Art how to use it!  These artists usually portfolio out of introductory art classes in high school.  The class spends the year proposing and making their ideas, curating their end of the year art show, documenting their work for high school, and creating public art for the community!
