Dreamscapes and Me - 8th Grade Art

Dreamscapes and Me - 8th Grade Art by Jeff Brubaker
Dreamscapes and Me is the title for the eighth grade curriculum that I have designed for our 12 week offering of art.  Dreamscapes as a word is teased out of landscapes.  To me, a dreamscape is more imaginative and doesn’t have to look photorealistic because you are not trying to create a realistic image of place.  These artist address place through collage work.  Me, is part of the 8th Grade Arts curriculum that is a necessary part of the title because the main theme of eighth grade art is Identity.  Every project addresses who we are as people on multiple levels.  Place, identity, and culture are the main themes of eighth grade art.  Students address these themes through drawing, acrylic painting, collage, photography, graphic design, plaster, and ceramics.
