Expert 21

Expert 21 is an inquiry-based Reading and Language Arts program that integrates writing and reading skills that align with common core. Each workshop focuses on an Expert Question that requires students to read critically and develop skills and metacognitive strategies to communicate their understanding. Technology is used to support our 21st Century learners and prepare them to be college and career ready.

Social Studies

 

At PJH, our Social Studies curriculum is broken into four units: Economics, History, Geography, and Civics. Our goals for our students are to promote critical thinking and skill application to prepare them as future leaders of our community, country, and world.

Economics:

  • Microeconomics- supply & demand, types of businesses, marketing
  • Macroeconomics - national and global economy

History:

  • Sources
  • Bias & Perspective
  • Writing in history
  • Influential Americans

Civics:

  • Rights and responsibilities of citizens
  • Roles of government
  • Federal and state constitutions

Geography:

  • Basic map skills
  • Human/Environment interactions
  • Global citizenship
