Welcome to Mrs. Balchunas’ Reading Support Class!
I work with students in grades K-6 to help support any struggles or difficulties they may be having in reading. I help teach students strategies to use to help them become stronger readers in decoding and comprehension. I work closely with all classroom teachers to build a connection between what the students are learning in their classroom and in my support classroom. We discuss the different reading strategies and work through students’ understanding and use of the strategies through modeling and guided practice. We also work on the reading and writing connection with the variety of texts we read together.
It is a pleasure to work with all my students and to help instill more confidence and a deeper love and appreciation in reading for all of our students at Lane.
