I spent the first twelve years of my career teaching 3rd and 4th grade. I loved teaching third and fourth graders but was ready to challenge myself and venture off to a new position teaching students in Kindergarten through 6th grade. So, at the start of the 2015-16, school year I returned to Lane as our reading specialist. I love instilling a passion and desire for learning and reading. I especially love helping students acknowledge areas of struggle and working fiercely to improve in those areas through perseverance and hardwork. I have also enjoyed being able to work with all the grade levels and my colleagues across the building.
While I have a strong love and calling for teaching; I also am a lifelong learner. I have returned to school for a master’s degree and two additional endorsements. I graduated from the University of Illinois @ Champaign-Urbana with an elementary education degree. I furthered my studies by receiving a Reading Specialists Master’s Degree from St. Xavier University, an endorsement in English Language Learning from National Louis University, and recently finished an endorsement in Teaching Leadership from Concordia University.
When I am not at Lane I keep busy with my three children. I have two sons, Jack (4) and Ben (3) and a daughter, Cate (1). We also have a seven year old dog that loves to be entertained. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, playing with my children, shopping, and, of course, reading!
