   Welcome to Special Education Resource

Special education is instruction that is specially designed to meet the unique needs of children who have disabilities. Under the ADA, (Americans with Disabilities Act) you have a disability if you have at least one of the following: A physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities. Major life activities include: learning, thinking, reading, concentrating, and communicating.

Students in District 126 receive special education instruction in their home schools. Special education is specially designed instruction, support, and services provided to students with an identified disability requiring an individually designed instructional program to meet their unique learning needs. In addition to content area instruction, students may receive speech therapy, occupational therapy, social work services, physical therapy, and hearing itinerant services.
