District 126 maintains health offices in each of our schools. They are staffed by two nurses (one a certified school nurse) and office staff throughout the day. Our nurses monitor compliance with the Illinois State shot, physical, dental, and vision exam requirements. They assist students with specialized health needs such as asthma, diabetes, seizures, and food allergies by working with school staff and student doctors to develop plans for care and safety at school. They help staff understand health related needs of students. Mrs. Raney and Mrs. Noble administer and help students administer many different kinds of medications such as insulin injections and inhalers throughout the school day. They provide vision and hearing screenings throughout the year. Our nurses visit classrooms to teach students about health topics such as growth and development, hygiene, and dental health. Guidelines for Student Attendance at School: (See page 4 of District Handbook for more information) Student should not be in school if any of the following are present: • Temperature of 100 degrees or higher.
